Top Tip One: Test Before You Send

There's nothing more unprofessional and impersonal then opening an email with poor formatting, the wrong name or even worse "Hey <subject name>!" That's certainly one way to lead your audience to the dreaded UNSUBSCRIBE button 😨


Make sure you've crafted the perfect draft by emailing it to your self before sending it to your client list. It isn't enough to just include yourself in the email list and take a look at the final product after it is sent to everyone. The one thing worse then "Hey <subject name>!" is "Sorry for that! We accidentally sent you the wrong email".


Top Tip Two: Send From a Person Not a Brand

If you're a sole trader or reflect your self strongly in your branding, then your brand already has a great human voice or persona (you). Think of brands like Lorna Jane, KKW or Kylie. Having a persona to your brand helps consumers feel more comfortable with your brand so they are more likely to open the emails you send. This will also help you avoid those dreaded junk or spam inboxes. For example, my EDM's are sent from Chelsea - Star Marketing Solutions, instead of just Star Marketing Solutions.

Top Tip Three: Add the Recipients Name

Using the readers name in an email is an easy trick that helps to build loyalty, foster a relationship and strengthen trust. This can be done when using services and platforms like MailChimp or WIX Mail - just make sure your coding is right so you don't end up with <subject name>.

Power words strengthen your message and encourage a reader to engage with a prescribed Call to Action. Use these words in your EDM's and other marketing strategies to increase your success turn over.
